Federated Health Charities Kick Off Annual Charitable Giving Campaign
Federated Health Charities Corporation kicked off its 2015 Annual Campaign today with a goal to raise a record amount of funds for up to 16 Canadian health charities. The campaign will run through to July involving members of the OPS to pledge funds through payroll deductions, donations and special events.
“In 32 years we have raised more than $40 million for these charities, and help make a difference in the lives of thousands of people,”said Helen Angus, Chair of the Federated Health Charities Annual Campaign and Deputy Minister, Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade. “We are proud to come together as a group to raise funds for our 16 health charities, and to reaffirm that the OPS has a tremendously generous heart.”
Every year all government ministries across Ontario as well as some government agencies get enthusiastically involved with unique events and charitable giving activities. In 2014, a total of 7,880 people generously donated raising a total of $2.03 million dollars.
All members of the OPS can donate to Federated Health through payroll pledges, one-time donations, lottery tickets and special events. People outside of the OPS are also welcome to donate to Federated Health.

The Federated Health Charities 2015 campaign is officially underway!
Federated Health Charities is a coalition of 16 provincially-based health charities in Ontario dedicated to raising funds for its members within the Ontario Public Service that will support health education and awareness, medical research, and client and patient services.
Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy (OFCP) has been one of the charities lucky enough to receive funds from the Federated Health Charities campaign for 27 years now. Since the time we joined Federated Health in 1988, OFCP has received a substantial share of the over $40-million dollars in total that has been raised for the charities by members of the Ontario Public Service. We are extremely grateful for the donations provided to us by this campaign as they have allowed us to provide support, education, and advocacy to our members as well as to invest in research that works towards finding improved treatments and cures. These donations truly help enrich the lives of people with cerebral palsy through funding for wheelchairs, accessibility aids, communication devices, community activities and much more.
The campaign runs within the Ontario Public Service from April 2-July 31 in all ministries of the provincial government as well as some government agencies (Ontario Science Centre, AGCO, OLG, etc.) All members of the OPS can donate to Federated Health through 4 methods: payroll pledges, one time donations, lottery tickets, and special events. People outside of the OPS are welcome to donate to Federated Health any time throughout the year through one time donations and can do so by simply contacting the Federated Health offices at 416-327-2137.
Last year’s campaign was the 31st anniversary campaign and it raised $2.03 million dollars that went to improving the lives of the thousands of people that use the services of our 16 member charities.
The charities that currently receive funds from Federated Health charities are:
Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario, The Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Canadian Liver Foundation, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Hemophilia Ontario, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Ontario Lung Association, Ontario AIDS Network, Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy, Osteoporosis Canada, Schizophrenia Society of Ontario
If you, or someone you know, works within the Ontario Public Service and want to support OFCP or any of the other incredible charities, Federated Health Charities gives you an easy way to do that by having a donation amount of your choice taken off your paycheck and sent directly to your charity(s) of choice.
