OFCP Member Spotlight: Kendall’s Sweet Way of Giving Back

At just 10 years old, OFCP supporter Kendall is proving that kindness can make a big difference. Kendall and her twin brother, who has cerebral palsy, share what she describes as "a really special bond."

"He is my best friend, and I love him so much."

Wanting to make a difference for her brother and others living with cerebral palsy, Kendall came up with a simple but heartfelt idea four years ago. During Waterford's annual community-wide garage sale, she set up a cupcake stand to raise money for the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy (OFCP). "Cerebral palsy can make everyday life more challenging," Kendall writes, "but there are special equipment, programs, and supports that can help make life easier."

What began as one fundraiser has now become a beloved annual tradition. This year marked Kendall's fourth cupcake fundraiser, with plenty of help from her family. Her sister bakes hundreds of cupcakes. Then, Kendall, her sister, and their mom spend hours icing and decorating each one before an early morning start on garage sale day. Together, they make between 300 and 500 cupcakes every year. And they always sell out!

Every dollar raised is donated directly to OFCP to help support individuals with cerebral palsy and their families. "I am so thankful for our amazing community in Waterford. Everyone is so kind and supportive, and because of their generosity, we've been able to help other families like ours." Kendall's generosity is a wonderful reminder of the spirit of community that makes OFCP's work possible.

As Kendall puts it, "I love my brother so much. He helps me, I help him, and this is my way of making a difference for people living with cerebral palsy." You can help make a difference too.
