OFCP Funding Programs

The OFCP offers funding assistance grants to Individual Members of the OFCP who have cerebral palsy. Funds can be accessed through our funding assistance program. Please review the guidelines and application forms carefully before applying.

We are thankful to our generous donors for making these funding opportunities possible.

The Life Enriching Activity Fund is a new opportunity for members to access financial assistance to enrich, enhance or augment an activity the member currently participates in or is interested in.

Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy has established several annual awards to acknowledge persons with cerebral palsy, their families, professionals and community members for their significant contributions in improving lives of people with cerebral palsy in Ontario.

Eric Waldron Scholarship Award 2016

This scholarship is provided to a student with cerebral palsy who is a current Lifetime Member of OFCP and who is enrolled in an Ontario College or University and who has completed his or her first year of instruction at University or College.  Enrolment in programs that will lead to working with individuals with disabilities will be an asset. 

The Eric Waldron Scholarship is in the amount of $500.00 paid in one instalment.  The applicant must be a current Member of the OFCP.

Nomination:

The Awards Committee is interested in the student's volunteer and employment endeavours and/or family involvement with an individual(s) with cerebral palsy. Personality, attitude and leadership attributes of the applicant will also be considered through personal/professional letters of reference.  Academic and community references are acceptable.  Please note that course transcripts including marks are required. The selection will be made by the Awards Committee.

Presentation:

This Award will be presented in October 2016.

Forms and supporting documentation must be received at the OFCP office by Tuesday, July 5, 2016.

Mona Winberg Achievement Award 2016

In memory of Mona Winberg, the Board of Directors of the OFCP has established this Award at its Board meeting January 24, 2009.   Mona will be remembered by many for her dedication to the work of the Federation.  In her welcome to the 1969 OFCP Conference in Toronto, Third Vice-President Mona Winberg pointed out that, in essence, everyone had an impossible dream, and to achieve this dream we all need support, encouragement and independence.   She quoted the late Robert Kennedy:  “I dream of things that never were and ask, ‘Why not?’ ”

This Award, in the amount of $500.00, is made to a person with cerebral palsy who is a current Lifetime Member of OFCP in recognition of his/her personal achievement of such caliber as to be a significant role model to all.

Nomination:

Nominations for this Award are open to all persons with cerebral palsy who are current Lifetime Members of OFCP and who reside in the province of Ontario.  Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.

Presentation:

This Award will be presented in October 2016.

Therapy Scholarship Award 2016

Award Description:   

The scholarship is provided to a student who has completed his or her first year of instruction at an approved institution of higher learning in Ontario offering the following courses:

  • Speech and Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy

 

The Therapy Scholarship, in the amount of $500.00, is paid in one instalment and the recipient will also receive a one year complimentary membership with OFCP.  Applicants must be residents of Ontario. 

Nomination:

Eligibility criteria for this award is the successful completion of first year of study and enrolment in the second year of the program. The Awards Committee is interested in the student's volunteer/employment endeavours and/or family involvement with person(s) having physical disabilities.  Personality, attitude and leadership attributes of the applicant will also be considered through personal/professional letters of reference.  Academic and community references are acceptable.  Please note that transcripts are required.  The selection will be made by the Awards Committee.

OFCP Volunteer of Distinction Award 2016

Each year the Federation would like to recognize an individual with cerebral palsy or a family with a member with cerebral palsy who has volunteered to help in fulfilling the mission of OFCP in Ontario.  This award is dedicated in memory of an outstanding member with cerebral palsy. 

Nomination:  

The OFCP Volunteer of Distinction Award, in the amount of $500.00, is presented to an individual or group that has demonstrated significant volunteer support and dedication towards striving to address the needs of people with cerebral palsy in the province of Ontario. Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.

Presentation:

This Award will be presented in October 2016.

2016 OFCP Volunteer of Distinction Award Application Form

OFCP Outstanding Teacher Award 2016

The   Ontario   Federation  for   Cerebral   Palsy wishes   to   recognize   the   contribution   of   a   teacher   who   is   providing   outstanding, exceptional support and guidance to a student with cerebral palsy.  We invite students with cerebral palsy to nominate an educator (teacher, professor) in Ontario whom they believe should be honoured.

Nomination:

The selected educator will receive a plaque honouring his or her service which will be presented by their nominator, and will also receive a one year complimentary membership with OFCP.

Nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support.

Nicholas Milojevic Scholarship Award 2016

This scholarship is provided to a student with cerebral palsy and a current Lifetime Member of OFCP and who is enrolled in an Ontario College or University and has successfully completed their first year and is entering into their second year of studies.

The Nicholas Milojevic Scholarship Award is in the amount of $500.00 paid in one instalment.  The applicant must be a current Member of the OFCP.

Nomination:

This Award will be presented to a student with cerebral palsy who has persevered in their studies and has successfully embraced all aspects of the post secondary school education experience.  This recipient, in keeping with Nicholas’s character, would be an individual who brings joy to others and has a happy and positive disposition.  The successful applicant will reflect all of the positive attributes reflected in Nicholas’s character which include perseverance, positivity and strength.

A Member can self nominate or be nominated by someone who sees these attributes in a Member.

Research Fund


The Research Fund provides financial support to applicants conducting research in areas relevant to the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of cerebral palsy.

Who may apply to the fund?
The OFCP accepts applications from the fields of biomedicine, health services and systems research, population studies and clinical research.
