Is it Contagious?
No. Nor is it hereditary. Though, some research has indicated that the reasons for a particular difficult child birth can be the result of low levels of certain enzymes, research is far from conclusive.
Does CP cause other problems?
There are various common conditions shared by people with different types of cp. Some people with spasticity report early signs of muscle and tendon fatique. Those who are primarily affected in the lower quad with little physical activity report problems with digestion.
Does the OFCP give financial assistance to those with CP?
The OFCP has various programs that members can benefit from, such as the Assistive Devices funding, Vacation funding, Day Progam funding.

Also, if you are an organization and wish to become a member group of the OFCP, you would quality to apply for funds under our Provincial Fund.

The OFCP also provides financial assistance for qualified research.

How does someone become a member?
Membership for Individuals with cp is $10 per lifetime. Membership for people without cp is $10 annually. We also offer group membership for organizations. More...
How can I get involved?
The OFCP has various events. We have an Annual Conference every fall, where people with CP and their families can get together and learn and socialize.

We also publish a quarterly newsletter, which you can request to recieve.
